12/9/2023 0 Comments Benchmark pt murrells inletMy wife is very tolerant on food and as she says she can find something to eat but she was quick to tell me this was terrible and I don't care to come back. We realize BBQ has great variance in the sauces and seasons used but their was too hot and too much vinegar for us. The only pulled pork BBQ I got (did not notice another) was strong with vinegar and was season hotter than I like. The seafood I found was the shrimp and grits and a fish fillet cut properly for a buffet. I was told when I called they had seafood on the buffet both Thursday and Saturday evening. Not the only variance there but again they tasted good. Most use a coarse ground girts and these were very finely ground. I would get those again but still not traditional recipe. I eat shrimp and grits almost always and theirs tasted good but they are not the typical recipe. My wife tasted and said it was the sauce they used. I did manage to chew one piece and it tasted like chicken liver. The grill porkchop was dry and tough as it could be. But the rib I got was maybe room temp, maybe. They have posted you need to get your food off the bottom of the pans on the hot bar for the heat is on the bottom of the pan. with our supper meal there on Saturday July 3rd. Over the years my wife and I have eaten at both of these restaurants many times. We understand they have many of the employees of Prossers BBQ and they are owned by same person who owns the Schoolhouse BBQ in Scranton. We have almost 1,000 restaurants in Myrtle Beach and tons in our area. This was a missed opportunity to do something different. There are many people who carry fresh produce and we live on a fishing town, yet nothing non-frozen or not out of a can. BUT, I would have wished for more than a clone of Prosser's. I know that is the normal and everyone gets their food from US foods. We we sat we could see in the back row after row of canned goods. Sweet potato casserole needs a thicker sugary crust. Pork chops tough like it was at Prossers. $8.99 for JB and $12.50 for Inlet but it includes tax and drink.Chicken crispy but a bit overdone. Let's be honest: Locals know what is best because there are always lines. of the cooks left to Judy Boone's a new buffet down the road since a rebuilt Prosser's was still in the early stages. The servers were happy and some of the best. They updated the interior a bit moving the cashiers desk and adding an ice cream machine.
